On Wednesday, 2nd October 2013 at 20:45 (CET), Manchester City will
host Bayern Munich at Etihad Stadium - Manchester for 2013/2014 UEFA Champions
League, Group D.
Manchester City opened their Champions League account with 0-3 away win over
Czech side Viktoria Plzen, Dzeko, Toure and Aguero all on mark for the
day. City has struggled to perform in Europe since their rise to
prominence in recent years, failing to even progress to the knockout
stages in the last two seasons. Manchester drew the same group with
Bayern Munich two years ago and the Bavarian giants won at home 2-0
before City responded in kind with a 2-0 win of their own at the Etihad.
The Citizens have been undefeated at home in European competition for
the last 20 games.

Bayern Munich is off to an incredible start domestically, dropping just two
points in the opening seven matches and second to Borussia Dortmund on
virtue of goal difference alone. Their Champions League account opened
with similar flair, a 3-0 domination of Russian side CSKA Moscow just
two weeks ago. The Bavarians last faced English competition in the UEFA
Super Cup against Chelsea FC, a match that would be decided on penalties
in favour of the German side. Pep Guardiola has a few injury concerns
in the form of Alcantara and Martinez, but will welcome the return of
summer purchase Mario Gotze to health for Wednesday night's match.
