The Gunners were beaten 2-1 by last season’s runners-up at the
Emirates Stadium two weeks ago and now Champions League Group F has
shaped into a three horse race for two places in the knockout rounds:
Dortmund, Arsenal and Napoli all have six points from three matches.
Dortmund sit second in the Bundesliga - just one point behind
reigning champions Bayern Munich. Jurgen Klopp’s men have won all six of
their home matches in the Bundesliga this term, warming up for this
match with a 6-1 thrashing of Stuttgart on Friday night. Robert
Lewandowski scoring a hat-trick to make it 12 goals in 14 games for his
club this season.
Furthermore, they have won their last seven Champions League home
fixtures including games against Real Madrid (twice) and Manchester City
last season.
Sebastian Kehl could return to the Dortmund midfield after injury,
but Sahin and Bender are most likely to start. Gundogan and Piszczesk
are the long-term absences but elsewhere there are no fresh injury
concerns.
- Borussia Dortmund (4-2-3-1): Weidenfeller; Grosskreutz, Hummels, Subotic, Schmelzer; Sahin, Bender; Blaszczykowski, Mkhitaryan, Reus; Lewandowski.
Arsenal team outclassed Liverpool 2-0 at the Emirates last Saturday.
So the Gunners come into this game with the confidence that being five
points clear at the top of the Premier League brings. Arsene Wenger's
side are unbeaten in their last 14 away matches, with 12 of them being
wins.
Wilshere and Gibbs will undergo late fitness tests and Diaby,
Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott are all still out. Also young
winger Serge Gnabry is struggling with an ankle injury.
Dortmund have never lost at home to an English side in the Champions
League, winning four of seven previous matches. There have been over 2.5
goals scored in 6 of Borussia Dortmund's last 7 games in the Champions
League.
- Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Sagna; Arteta, Ramsey, Rosicky; Ozil, Cazorla; Giroud.
