Liverpool’s
supporters could not ask for more. Before the start of the season no
one had probably thought the Reds will be the major candidates for the
title with three final games of the season to go. Brendan Rodgers’ team
have got 80 points now, are 5 points clear of the 2nd Chelsea and 6 points clear of the 3rd Manchester City (the Citizens have got one game more to be played). The Reds have not lost in the league since 29th of December when they were defeated at Stamford Bridge by their upcoming rivals. Since then, Liverpool won 14 league games and drew only 2. Moreover, the Reds won the last 11 games in a row
when it comes to the Premiership matches. Last week Liverpool beat 2:3
Norwich. The Reds were struggling to keep the score but they somehow
managed to take three points home.
Chelsea and Mourinho are going to go to Anfield and keep things
incredibly tight defensively and look to hit on the counter-attack.
Their shocking 2-1 loss to Sunderland left Liverpool five points clear
atop the table with only three matches remaining. Third-placed
Manchester City - who recently lost 3-2 at Anfield - are a point further
back, but have a game in hand.
Blues' manager Jose Mourinho has flagged the possibility of fielding a weakened team as he prioritises next week's UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg at home to Atletico Madrid. Lampard and Mikel will likely have to start after playing midweek and getting suspended for the second leg. Petr Cech and John Terry were injured in midweek, Eden Hazard and Samuel Eto'o may well be fit enough to feature but are likely to be rested while Ramires is suspended for four matches.
Possible line-ups:
Chelsea: Hilario – Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Kalas, Cole – Mikel, Matic – Salah, Lampard, van Ginkel – Demba Ba.
Liverpool: Mignolet – Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Flanagan – Gerrard, Lucas, Allen – Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez.
