Chile started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Ecuador courtesy of a
Vidal penalty and a late goal from Edu Vargas. Victory in this match
would all but book Jorge Sampaoli's side's spot in the last eight, with
all of the other sides in their group having dropped points in their
opening matches.
Matías Fernández was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time and
will now be suspended for the clash against Mexico so Jorge Valdívia
should keep his place, potentially playing the role of a false nine.
Felipe Gutierrez looks set to replace injured Marcelo Diaz in the
starting line-up. Up-front, coach Sampaoli will continue with the
dynamic duo Vargas-Sanchez.
