Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan - 31 August, 2014 - Serie A
AC Milan 3-1 Lazio:
7' Keisuke Honda 1-0 // 56' Sulley Ali Muntari 2-0 // 64' (pen.) Jeremy Menez 3-0 // 67' 3-1 (o.g.) Alex
AC Milan started their new season under
Filippo Inzaghi reign in the best possible way after grabbing all three
points over strong Lazio side.
Rossoneri tried to play a fast
direct football and that tactic worked out well when they got themselves
in front through Keisuke Honda's finish on seven minutes.
Both
teams tried to push forward from that moment on but AC Milan looked more
comfortable in handling their opponent's aggressive play.
After
the break, nothing really changed much as Rossoneri still looking solid
and eventually got themselves a second goal from Sulley Muntari's close
range effort.
Milan practically sealed off their three points when Jeremy Menez scored from the spot kick on 64 minutes.
However,
tired legs starting to hit Rossoneri players as they failed to maintain
their high intensity and allowing Lazio a way back into the match when
Alex unfortunately scored an own goal on 67 minutes.
That goal
gave an additional spirit for the Biancocelesti as they were pouring
forward vigorously putting lots of pressure on tired Milan players.
The
visitor were close to make it 3-2 in the end when they earned a
controversial spot kick, but Antonio Candreva failed to beat Diego Lopez
as Rossoneri holding on to their 3-1 lead.
