Espanyol vs Barcelona Spanish Primera Division 25-04-2015

Espanyol vs FC Barcelona - Competition: Spanish Primera Division

Espanyol team the small brother of FC Barcelona. Yet again they have a decent season as they don’t have to fear to drop out of La Liga. 10 points deficit to FC Villareal (6th place, qualification for UEL) are a lot if we take into account that there are only 6 matches remaining. Therefore, a lack of motivation and goals might uprise. Of course, the derby brings a lot of passion, but in the back of their minds, the players might not give all they got and already expect defeat. Needless to say, the quality of Espanyol is nowhere close to FC Barcelona, but a lot of hope rests on the shoulders of Sergio Garcia, the best scorer of the team. Also, they are unbeaten for 6 matches including a tie at home against Atlético Madrid and wins against Athletic Bilbao and Villareal. If they could remain unbeaten in this derby as well, the fans would be very happy. Further their La Liga home record of 8-5-3 (7th best) is an argument for them.
Barcelona proved their strength with the 2:0 home win against PSG, which was not even necessary after their 3:1 win on the road. Still the fans could enjoy Iniesta and Neymar (scored twice) who played amazingly. The fact that Iniesta played that well, gives them one more alternative in midfield. In the last 13 games, they remained unbeaten and won 12 times. Luis Enrique can be happy and thankful to call Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar his strikers – they might be the best attack in the world right now. Two La Liga games ago, they only tied 2:2 with Sevilla on the road – they should be aware that one more mistake could be enough for Real Madrid to surpass them! The great UCL win and the best league away record of 11-3-2 are strong arguments for us to believe in their win.

Bayern Munich vs FC Porto Champions League - 21-04-2015

Bayern Munich vs FC Porto
Competition: UEFA Champions League - Quarter-finals (second leg)
 Match date: 21 April 2015
Kick Off Time: 19:45 BST
Venue: Allianz Arena (München, Germany)

Bayern Munich dissappointed in the first leg, where they ended up losing 3:1 making it extremely hard to advance in the UCL. After only a couple of minutes Xabi Alonso and Dante had made crucial mistakes leading to two goals for Porto. There will be no room for that kind of mistakes in the second leg, where the Bayern players are forced forward, as they need to score at least two goals. It is obvious that Pep Guardiola is missing some crucial players, but he can still line up with a world class squad. It is also expected that Ribery and Schweinsteiger will be in the squad, and they may get a few minutes if it is needed. Bayern rested some players on the weekend, where they beat Hoffenheim with 2:0. That gives them a good preview for the game this Tuesday in Allianz Arena, where everything is usually possible. Bayern Munich have had some big wins at home this season and the last one was against Shakhtar (7:0) in the previous round of the UEFA Champions League. In the league Bayern are 12-1-1 with at goal scoring balance of 43:6 this season, and another great performance is required now.
FC Porto team surprised everyone in the first leg, as they were better than Bayern Munich at some stages of the game. The Porto players managed to pressure the Germans in the build up play, and that was really important in terms of getting the win. Jackson Martinez was also an important player. He returned from injury, but still he caused the Bayern defenders quite some trouble with his strength. But there is no doubt that it will be a completely different game in the Allianz Arena, where Bayern will have all the support they need. Porto are stronger at home, as they had some trouble in away games against Shakhtar (2:2) and Basel (1:1). Porto had the advantage that they could rest almost all players on the weekend, where they got a narrow 1:0 win against Academica. The Portuguese side have incredible faith after the first game, but they might be overwhelmed with the atmosphere in the Allianz Arena. Besides, it is a big loss that both Danilo and Alex Sandro will be suspended for this game.

Probable lineups:
Bayern Munich: Neuer – Rafinha, Boateng, Badstuber, J. Bernat – Xabi Alonso – Rode, Alcantara – M. Gotze, T. Muller – Lewandowski.
FC Porto: Fabiano – Pereira, Maicon, Marcano, Martins Indi – Casemiro, Herrera – O. Torres, R. Quaresma, Brahimi – J. Martinez.

Barcelona vs Valencia Spanish Primera Division - 18-04-2015

0 التعليقات

FC Barcelona vs Valencia
Competition: Spanish Primera Division
Match date: 18 April 2015
Kick Off Time: 15:00 BST
Venue: Camp Nou (Barcelona, Spain)

FC Barcelona team stumbled in their title pursuit last weekend when they drew on the road with Sevilla, 2:2. Despite holding a 2:0 lead through the first half hour of action, the Catalans fell asleep and allowed Sevilla back in the match with 2 unanswered goals on either side of halftime. The draw allowed for Real Madrid to close the gap at the top to just 2 points, and the Catalans will be feeling the pressure mount with just 7 matches remaining.
However, Barcelona will be buoyed by their massive UCL victory last time out, as the Catalans hit the road to Paris and stole a 3:1 lead from the first leg. Neymar began the scoring in the first half to take a 1:0 lead into halftime, but the second half would see Luis Suarez steal the show with a nifty nutmeg of David Luiz and a brace to seal the 3:1 victory. The hosts are now unbeaten in their last 11 competitive fixtures and have claimed victory on 10 of those occasions. Furthermore, they have now won 15 of their last 16 competitive matches at the Camp Nou, outscoring their opponents 59 to 11. While Valencia did conquer the hosts here last season, the Blaugrana are vastly improved since then and will have the extra motivation of revenge to spur them on and avoid any letdown in-between their UCL clashes with PSG.
Valencia team also enter the weekend in a good run of form, as the visitors have now gone their last 10 La Liga fixtures without a loss. They have claimed an impressive 30 points out of a possible 39 from their last 13 league games, resulting in a current 4th place ranking while they sit just a single point behind Atletico Madrid. While a title challenge is unlikely, they do have an opportunity to put their name in the hat with a win here at the Camp Nou. They will take confidence from the fact that they conquered the seemingly-indomitable Barcelona fortress in their last visit there last season, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to remind his players that the hosts are in fact mortal.
However, while that victory at the Camp Nou will serve to boost the players’ belief, it also adds extra impetus for the hosts to come out firing on all cylinders. That isn’t good news for a team that had lost their previous 7 trips to the Camp Nou before last season’s upset, and it doesn’t help matters that they have added an in-form Luis Suarez since. Furthermore, Los Che have been outscored 5 to 25 in their last 8 competitive trips to Barcelona, and Sunday should see them fall in an important match for both sides.

Barcelona last 5 matches:

Paris Saint-Germain vs Barcelona Champions League - April 15, 2015

0 التعليقات
Paris Saint-Germain vs FC Barcelona - Competition: UEFA Champions League

PSG team will be eager to get back to their UCL campaign after their 3:3 victory on aggregate over Chelsea last round. Thiago Silva, the Parisians’ captain and savior in the Round of 16, undoubtedly has the talent and physicality of one of the best centre-backs in all the world, but with David Luiz injured and Verratti suspended in the midfield, Silva will need to put in a top-drawer performance this time out if Paris Saint-Germain hope to travel to Barcelona with a semblance of hope.
However, the hosts gave absolutely everything to defeat Chelsea last round, including the eligibility of the suspended duo of Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti. While they did manage to conquer Barcelona here in the group stages, the visitors have vastly improved since then while the Parisians have found elimination from this stage of the cup in back-to-back seasons. Furthermore, they have only reached the semifinals of the tournament once in their history, and experience at this stage certainly favors the travelers. Still, PSG should have enough gusto and grit to eek out a result here, though at the most that is likely to be a draw.
FC Barcelona team travel to Paris with a camp full of confidence and experience, and it’s no mystery why they are so heavily favored here despite being on the road. Since their shocking 0:1 defeat to Real Sociedad at the beginning of January, the Catalans have torn through their fixture list with 20 victories in their last 22 matches in all competitions. Furthermore, they are unbeaten in their last 11 competitive road games, and the visitors have managed to win on 10 of those occasions. They were impressive in a 2:1 road win over Manchester City last round and despite the fact that Dani Alves will be suspended on Wednesday, confidence of a positive result will be high here in the Catalan camp.
Therefore, with the Parisians missing their best player in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and one of their top defenders in David Luiz, Barcelona are deserved favorites here. However, they also know that anything but defeat would be satisfactory, and their last trip to Paris saw them lose in a thrilling 2:3 encounter. The Blaugrana are admittedly in far better form since then, but Paris Saint-Germain are excellent at home and should have enough to deny Barça the victory. When all is said and done though, the visitors should be able to avoid defeat, at the least.

PSG last 5 matches:
15/03/15 Bordeaux 3 – 2 PSG
20/03/15 PSG 3 – 1 Lorient

Juventus vs AS Monaco Champions League 14-04-2015

0 التعليقات

Juventus vs AS Monaco
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Match date: Tuesday, 14 April 2015
Kick Off Time: 19:45 BST
Venue: Juventus Arena, Torino, Italy

Juventus team are one of the best clubs worldwide and it shows in their dominance of the Italian Serie A. Having only lost 2 Home matches all season, Juve certainly know how to win, and they have been doing so for a few years now. Seeking their 1st ever Treble(league win, coppa italia win, Champions League win), Juventus are surely coming out to blow Monaco’s hopes up in this leg 1 home matchup. The absence of Paul Pogba and possibly Andrea Pirlo could press Juventus to play more defensive. But, with 3 straight home victories, expect them to still manage a shutout here considering they have accumulated a fine 11 Clean Sheets over 22 Home contests overall. With 3 wins out of 4 unbeaten home matches in UCL competition this season, look for goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to have his way once again as they push AS Monaco away from any road goal advantage before the leg 2 meeting in France. Carlos Tevez is the answer up front for this attack to succeed as he has piled up 6 goals in 8 Champions League contests this season. Look for a 1-0, 2-0 victory here as both clubs will enter defensive mode early on, limiting goal scoring chances.
Monaco are coming off an absolute stunning upset of English favorite Arsenal to advance to this round of Champions League play. They just barely held on in the end via aggregate as their fortitude proved just deadly enough to succeed. The key to surviving was the stunning 1st leg away win at Arsenal that saw them down their hosts 3-1. Goals from Kondogbia, Berbatov, and Ferreira Carrasco were enough to solidify their aggregate victory in leg 2. Drawing a quarterfinal pairing with Italian giant Juventus, AS Monaco will need to keep up the intensity if any chance of a semi-final berth is possible. Despite their 1st leg road explosion on Arsenal, expect a defensive approach from the Frenchman here as Juventus’ home defense is absurdly talented, allowing only about 1 goal every 2 matches. The services of Dimitar Berbatov will be essential here if Monaco have any chance at gaining a road goal aggregate advantage. He has not been able to get it going in UCL play quite yet, and Monaco certainly need this trend to change if they are to defeat their heavily-favored hosts, Juventus. The main bright spot entering this difficult road test here is Monaco have only 1 loss over 4 Champions League Away matches this season.

Probable lineups:
Juventus: Buffon – Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Lichtsteiner, Marchisio, Vidal, Evra – Pereyra – Morata, Tevez.
AS Monaco: Subasic – Fabinho, Wallace, Abdennour, Kurzawa – Kondogbia, Toulalan – Dirar, Moutinho, Ferreira-Carrasco – Berbatov.

Manchester United vs Manchester City Premier League - April 12, 2015

0 التعليقات
Manchester United vs Manchester City - Competition: English Premier League

Manchester United team are ready for meeting 2 with their hated inner city rival Manchester City. The 1st clash in the Etihad did not end well after a 2nd half City goal downed Man U 0-1. Man United have much more to look forward to in this 2nd meeting in Old Trafford considering their recent run of great form. 3 straight league wins following the knockout loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup has Man U poised and ready to strut their stuff. Literally just claiming 3rd place from Man City, Man United have a 1 point lead on their visitors and will need to keep up their superb recent form to hold this advantage. Wayne Rooney leads the attack while RVP gets back into game shape following his 1 month hiatus due to injury. We could see him come in later in the match as a sub if things end up going poorly. With 13 wins in 16 Home league contests, little stands in the way of Man U claiming points here as they dominate at home. The sudden surging play of midfielder Juan Mata has the team bursting with confidence. They will certainly play Man City into the turf here considering they finally have found a winning niche, especially at Old Trafford.
Man City have hit a wall lately. 3 losses over their last 5 Premier League games played has the club reeling and searching for answers. They just conceded their 2nd place hold, which they had held almost all season long, with a recent road loss at Crystal Palace 1-2 last weekend. With nothing else to focus on after Barcelona knocked them from the Champions League, Man City had little excuse in that loss. If it wasn’t for a Yaya Toure late goal, Man City would have been utterly embarrassed by the lesser club. Only 4 goals scored over their last 4 matches played overall can be accredited for this drop in the tables. Man City desperately need a quick jump back into form from top scorer Sergio Aguero as he leads the team with 17 goals over 26 EPL showings. Man City will need to put it all back together if they are to have a chance of reclaiming points lost in recent EPL games. Against a deadly in-town rival like Man U, expect City to bring their A-game despite the fact it probably won’t be enough to slowdown their in-form hosts.

Marseille vs Paris Saint-Germain French League - 05-04-2015

0 التعليقات
Olympique Marseille vs Paris Saint-Germain
Competition: French League 1
Match date: 05 April 2015
Kick Off Time: 20:00 BST
Venue: Stade Vélodrome, Marseille

The last few months were really unsuccessful for Olympique Marseille, after a great start of the season they had small crisis and lost their 1st place in Ligue 1. But it looks like that they are in form again, they won two from last 3 games played. They drew goalless in a tough home game against Lyon and won impressive in both away games against Toulouse (1:6) and Reims (0:4). 21 Years old M. Batshuayi scored 4 goals in these two games, but we are expecting A. Gignac to start against PSG. He’s the top scorer of Marseille with 16 goals scored in Ligue 1.
In front of their home fans they are without a victory in the last 3 games. They drew with Lyon and Reims, they also lost to Caen. Earlier they had streak of 11 home consecutive wins. In home table they are on the 3rd place with 35 points gained from 15 games (11 wins, 2 draws and 2 loses). In Ligue 1 table, OM are on the 3rd place too, just 2 points bellow the leaders from Paris, in case of a victory they could become competition leaders. They won 3 from last 5 games played against PSG at Stade Vélodrome.
After a really poor start of the season with lots of draws, PSG now are totally different team. They achieved UCL  quarter-finals after two great games against Chelsea. In the French league 1 they caught up with the leading squad (Lyon) and after last match-day they are ahead of them. Before the international break they won 3:1 against Lorient, all goals were scored by Ibrahimović, who also scored three goals in National Team games last week. As I wrote they are on the top of the league table, they collected 59 points in 20 games. In away table they are in the 4th place, with 22 points gained from 15 games (5 wins, 7 draws and 3 loses). They gained just 2 points from last 3 away games in Ligue 1. They lost to Bordeaux and drew away against both AS Monaco and Lyon. PSG won last 6 games in all competitions against Marseille. Interestingly they scored 2 goals in last 8 games against them, that means that they scored 16 goals, while conceded just 4. There are few injured players in the team, but Paris Saint-Germain have an really large and strong team, so they can replace them easily.

Probable lineups:
Olympique Marseille: Mandanda – Dja Djedje, Fanni, Morel, Mendy – Romao, Lemina – Thauvin, Payet, Ayew – Gignac.
Paris Saint-Germain: Sirigu – Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Maxwell – Verratti, Motta, Matuidi – Pastore – Cavani, Ibrahimovic.

Arsenal vs Liverpool English Premier League - April 04, 2015

0 التعليقات
Arsenal vs Liverpool - Competition: English Premier League

Arsenal continued their excellent form in 2015 with a narrow 2:1 victory over Newcastle last time out. Giroud was fantastic once again for the Gunners as the Frenchman bagged a brace and has seen his EPL goal tally up to 13 this season (tied for 5th-highest scorer with teammate, Sanchez). The win was their 6th in a row in all competitions and the Gunners have now won 14 of their 17 competitive fixtures since the turn of the calendar year. Furthermore, they have claimed victory in their last 8 PL matches at the Emirates Stadium where they have been terrific this season. Their 33 home goals in the EPL this season is bested by no one, and it’s clear things are clicking with 15 goals from their last 5 EPL home games. The Gunners have had 7 different goalscorers over this 5-game stretch, highlighting the fact that they are finally getting healthy and that they have numerous options with which to attack. However, they must be careful not to get comfortable after so much success, as Liverpool are a dangerous team that is desperate to avoid defeat this weekend. These teams drew 2:2 in the reverse fixture in Liverpool, and with so many key players missing for the visitors here, Arsenal should at the least avoid defeat in the early match.
Liverpool shot themselves in the foot last season when the term came down to the wire, though this time they won’t be battling for the title but rather a top 4 place and the consequential UCL berth that comes with it. Their performance against Man United before the international break was self-inflicted and shambolic, as Gerrard lost his composure and picked up a straight red card for a stomp on Ander Herrera. The dismissal left the Reds’ hopes in tatters, and while Daniel Sturridge gave them belief by bringing the score back to 2:1 with 20 minutes to play, they eventually succumbed to their arch-rivals. Now at 5 points back from the top 4 the visitors must churn out a top-drawer performance at the Emirates Stadium, and good news is on the way as Sterling and Lallana are expected to play through their respective injuries. However, the retroactive suspension of Martin Skrtel–Liverpool’s best defender this season–could prove decisive in Saturday’s outcome. Dejan Lovren (questionable) has hardly been impressive since coming over from Southampton and the visitors’ defence could have problems against the highest scoring home team in the English Premier League this season.
