FC Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid
Football: Champions League, quarter-finals
Date: Tuesday, 1 April 2014 – 20:45 CET
Stadium: Camp Nou, Barcelona, Spain

FC Barcelona team are now sitting second in the table being just one point away from Atlético Madrid. Blaugrana happened to have some gaffes during the season but it is now 5 games since the last such – on the 8th of March Barça was beaten 1:0 by Real Valladolid at Estadio Municipal José Zorrilla. Since then, Diego Simeone’s players won their second leg in Champions League against Manchester City and added to their account four league victories. These include crushing Osasuna 7:0 and Celta de Vigo 3:0 (both at Camp Nou) and two higly important wins on the road – 3:4 against Real Madrid in El Clásico and 0:1 against Espanyol Barcelona during the last game week. In this city derby it was Messi’s penalty kick which gave Barcelona three points. During the game Neymar, Messi and Pedro also had some pretty good chances of scoring a goal. In this year Champions League Blaugrana lost only one game on the road – 2:1 in Amsterdam against Ajax back in November. Martino must play without his 1st goalkeeper Valdes since he has recently caught a long-term injury.
FC Barcelona: Pinto – Dani Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Jordi Alba – Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta – Neymar, Messi, A. Sanchez.

Atlético Madrid are now the leaders of the La Liga. Following their last weekend’s hard victory over Athletic Bilbao Los Rojiblancos are now a point clear of FC Barcelona. At San Mames it was Bilbao who scored the first goal early in the match. Atlético leveled after around 15 minutes with Costa’s brilliant strike and took the lead with 55 minutes on the clock thanks to Koke’s goal. For Atlético it was the 6th victory in a row within which they conceded only two goals. In the league they have recently beaten Athletic Bilbao (1:2), Granada (1:0), Betis Sevilla (0:2), Espanyol Barcelona (1:0) and Celta de Vigo (0:2). As far as the Champions League is concerned Atlético faced in the last 16 round AC Milan. In the first leg at San Siro Altetico managed to score a goal and win the game with a 0:1 result. In the second leg Diego Simeone’s men outclassed the Italians with a 4:1 victory. There are no major injuries to bother Atlético Madrid.
Atletico Madrid: Courtois – Juanfran, Godin, Miranda, Filipe – Gabi, Mario Suarez – Koke, Arda Turan, C. Rodriguez – Diego Costa.

Head to Head:
Last Meeting: 11/01/2014 Atlético Madrid vs FC Barcelona 0:0

SSC Napoli vs Juventus Italian Serie A 30-03-2014

0 التعليقات
Napoli vs Juventus - Competition: Italian Serie A

Napoli SSC recovered well from the home defeat to Fiorentina as they recorded a 4-2 triumph at Catania. They now sit ten points clear of Viola, although they do have some difficult fixtures ahead.
Benitez faces some selection issues as Valon Behrami and Dries Mertens face fitness tests, whilst Rafael Cabral and Christian Maggio are definitely out. Anyway he was able to rest a number of starters – including Gonzalo Higuaín – during their midweek win over Catania, ensuring that they will be as fresh as possible. Inler and Jorginho should play in midfield while Ghoulam is back after serving a suspension.
Juventus sit 14 points clear of second-placed Roma with eight games remaining, while Napoli are a further six points adrift. Antonio Conte's men are closing in on a third Scudetto in a row after extending their unbeaten run in the league to 22 matches with a 2-1 win over Parma on Wednesday - a game that also saw them set an Italian top-flight landmark with a 15th straight home win. Furthermore, Juventus are on a 7-match winning streak and they are undefeated in their last 22 games.
Carlos Tevez was the match’s hero. He scored 2 important goals but the Italian Serie A top scorer received his 5th yellow card and will serve a one-match suspension. Pablo Osvaldo expected to take his place up front alongside Fernando Llorente. The Bianconeri are monitoring Claudio Marchisio ahead of the game, as he continues to overcome a muscle strain. There will be no changes in defence, where Andrea Barzagli and Angelo Ogbonna are still out.
Juventus team have won seven consecutive matches in Serie A, conceding just two goals in the process but Napoli has a good record against the Old Lady at Stadio S.Paolo as they maintain an eight undefeated matches streak.

Possible line-ups:
SSC Napoli: Reina – Henrique, Fernandez, Albiol, Ghoulam – Inler, Jorginho – Callejon, Hamsik, Insigne – Higuain.
Juventus: Buffon – Caceres, Bonucci, Chiellini – Lichtsteiner, Pogba, Pirlo, Vidal, Asamoah – Osvaldo, Llorente.

Arsenal vs Man City Premier League March 29, 2014

Arsenal FC vs Manchester City
Competition: 2013/2014 English Premier League, Round 32
Date: Saturday, 29 March 2014 - 17:30 CET - 17:30 GMT

Arsenal vs Man City This last Saturday’s match within the 32nd round of the English Premiership brings us two competitors in the fight for the title, with the proviso that Man City is in a slightly better position than Arsenal FC, because they have three points more and has two games less.
Arsenal team enter matchweek 32 of league action having seen yet another English Premier League title dwindle away with their inability to get results against the top teams. Last Saturday saw them get whacked 6-0 by 1st place Chelsea-a game that was all but over after just 7 minutes of game time. That didn't end the Gunners' title ambitions though, a 2-2 draw with Swansea at home on Tuesday did. A ferocious comeback saw the hosts take the 2-1 lead and what was looking like all 3 points. But a serious of errors saw Flamini kick the ball into his own net in stoppage time. Now, Arsenal find themselves in familiar territory having to stave off teams from 4th place-a pinnacle that almost certainly guarantees Champions League qualification for next season. But a visit from free-scoring Man City isn't what the doctor ordered for an ailing, beleaguered squad. The visitors beat Arsenal 6-3 in the replay this season at the Etihad and that was against an Arsenal team that still had the likes of Theo Walcott healthy and fit. Notice the injury list below.
  • Probable lineups Arsenal: Szczesny – Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs – Flamini, Arteta – Rosicky, Cazorla, Podolski – Giroud.
Man City still control their own Premier League destiny after earning a comfortable 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United this past Tuesday. Eden Dzeko proved the difference-maker, and the depth that City have in striker is a key component with star man Sergio Aguero still sidelined through injury. The Citizens have now won 3 in a row at a goal tally of 10 scored and 0 conceded, including claiming victory in 12 of their last 14 Premier League matches. The defence admittedly has some holes in it and can concede at a high rate, but Arsenal have simply not been able to score consistently this season and aren't likely to keep up with City's high-flying attack, especially with their numerous injuries.
  • Probable lineups Manchester City: Hart – Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy –Fernandinho, Yaya Toure – Navas, Silva, Nasri – Dzeko.

Arsenal vs Swansea 2-2 Highlights 25-03-2014 EPL

Arsenal vs Swansea City - Competition: Premier League
Match date: 25 March 2014
Venue: Emirates Stadium, England

Arsenal 2-2 Swansea City:
11' 0-1 Bony W. // 73' 1-1 Podolski // 74' 2-1 Giroud // 90' 2-2 (o.g) Flamini

Arsenal's ambition to bounce back from their weekend defeat from Chelsea fell short as this midweek they were held into a draw by Swansea.
Playing in front of their home crowd, Gunners tried to immediately push forward in search for goals, but instead of going in front they found themselves trailing when Wilfried Bony scored on 11 minutes.
That goal lasted until half time break, but midway into the second period Arsenal got back on level terms thanks to a fine finish from Lukas Podolski on 73 minutes.
Within just a minute later, the home team turned things around as this time Podolski turned as provided, giving an excellent assist for Olivier Giroud to make it 2-1.
Unfortunately, things didn't go that well for Arsenal as right at the 90' minute they conceded an equalizer after an unlucky ricochet struck Flamini's foot, which turned it into his own goal.

Manchester United vs Manchester City
Competition: 2013/2014 English Premier League, Round 31
Match date: Tuesday, 25 March 2014 - Kick Off Time: 19:45 GMT - 19:45 CET

Man United enter this midweek in 7th place and will need to start taking results as the season winds down if they hope to gain Europa League passage for next year. The Red Devils fell last weekend in league action to Liverpool 3-0, but opposed to sulking, they've responded with two crucial victories that saw them through to the round of 8 in the Champions League as well as grabbing 3 more vital points in their pursuit for 5th place. Both victories ended 3-0 with excellent displays from Robin van Persie on Wednesday and Wayne Rooney on Saturday. Rooney scored a delicious, Beckham-esque goal on the weekend at Upton Park, finishing from the halfway line. But all of a sudden, just when manager David Moyes has his side playing well, star striker Robin van Persie gets ruled out for 4-6 weeks, making him unlikely for both of their matches with Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Furthermore, Vidic has a red card and will not be eligible for the derby this Tuesday.
Manchester City team still control their own English Premier League destiny after thrashing Fulham on Saturday 5-0. Yaya Toure continued in his seemingly always consistent ways, netting a hat-trick and pushing his side above Arsenal for 3rd place. They do however have 2 games in hand on 2nd place Liverpool and 3 on league-leaders Chelsea, so the title is theirs for the taking. But a horrendous upcoming schedule sees the Citizens faced with Man United (a), Arsenal (a), Southampton (h), and Liverpool (a), which makes this game all the more important for them to snatch all 3 points from. Sergio Aguero is still a glaring out, but they have more than ample options in attack to score on a beleaguered backline for Manchester United that only gets worse this Tuesday with Vidic suspended. City have won their last 2 trips to Old Trafford.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona La Liga March 23, 2014

Real Madrid vs Barcelona - Competition: 2013/2014 Spanish Primera Division, Round 29
Match date: Sunday, 23 March 2014 - Kick Off Time: 20:00 GMT - 15:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Spain
Referee: Alberto Undiano

Real Madrid enter their most important league game thus far this season, as a win here will put them in a commanding position to take the title. They sit 3 points above Atletico Madrid and 4 above Barcelona. With 9 league games after this one against lesser competition, the Whites may be perfectly content here with a draw as La Liga's depth leaves much to be desired. Furthermore, FC Barcelona and Atletico still have to face each other once more in this season's final league game. Real Madrid have gone unbeaten in an astounding 32 straight in all competitions, including a streak of 18 unbeaten in league play. However, their last league loss came at the hands of this week's opponent, Barcelona (2-1), and recent years have shown us that the Catalonian club seems to have a mental advantage over the hosts. Still, Real Madrid haven't lost to their archrivals on home turf since 2012, and manager Carlo Ancelotti finally has his players' understanding as to the way he wants to play.
FC Barcelona team must win this game or risk watching their title ambitions disappear. Spanish La Liga isn't what it has been in terms of depth this year, mainly due to many of the top Spanish players opting to pursue Premier League glory. Thus, the games between Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico possess massive implications to the title race. The Catalans haven't won at the Bernabeu since 2012, but they have already defeated their arch nemesis once this year 2-1. Recent form is a bit worrying for Barca supporters after losing 2 in their last 5 and 3 in their last 7 in league play. The most recent loss in that stretch came to Real Valladolid, who are currently mired in the relegation zone. But in typical Barcelona fashion, they rebounded last time out with a 7-0 demolishing of Osasuna, as Lionel Messi seems to have finally shaken off the rust from a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Pique returns from injury in time for the starting XI.

Possible line-ups:
Real Madrid: (Manager: Carlo Ancelotti) Diego Lopez – Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo – Xabi Alonso, Modric – di Maria, C. Ronaldo, Bale – Benzema (Morata).
FC Barcelona: (Manager: Gerardo Martino) Victor Valdes – Dani Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Jordi Alba – Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta – Neymar, Messi, Pedro.

Real Madrid 3-4 Barcelona
7' 0-1 Andrés Iniesta // 20' Karim Benzema 1-1 // 24' Karim Benzema 2-1 // 42' 2-2 Lionel Messi // 55' (pen.) Cristiano Ronaldo 3-2 // 65' 3-3 (pen.) Lionel Messi // 84' 3-4 (pen.) Lionel Messi

Chelsea vs Arsenal - Competition: 2013/2014 English Premier League, Round 31
Match date: Saturday, 22 March 2014

Chelsea team enter matchweek 31 of the English Premier League atop the pile in first place with a 4-point gap between them and second place Liverpool. However, Liverpool have a game in hand, as do Manchester City who have 3 games in hand at 6 points adrift, which mathematically could make them the league-leaders. This sudden upsurge from their fellow title contenders was self-inflicted after the Blues lost 1-0 last Saturday to Aston Villa in Villa Park. The match saw Brazilian pair Willian and Ramires sent off by referee Chris Foy for questionable challenges, and while those red cards may be justified, there were numerous offside calls and even a disallowed goal that could be called into question (Jose Mourinho received a touchline ban for this Saturday after his ensuing antics). But facts and results alone matter in football, so the Blues must shake off last weekend's drama and push on when Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge. The hosts have failed to win just twice all year (2 draws) in league action at home.
Probable lineups Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Lampard, Matic; Schürrle, Oscar, Hazard; Eto'o.
Arsenal enter the biggest game of their Premier League season thus far when they visit Stamford Bridge this Saturday. The Gunners currently sit in 3rd place at 4 points adrift Chelsea but do have a game in hand. Pegged as a long shot to win the league title this season, the Gunners have done an admirable job in the wake of multiple injuries to significant players to put themselves in such a promising position. However, a loss this weekend will all but end their hopes, and knowing Wenger he will be more than happy with a draw. It is the Frenchman's 1000th game at the helm of Arsenal, so expect added motivation for his troops when they take the field as they have nothing but admiration and respect for their talismanic manager. Confidence will also be flowing through the camp in this week's training, as the Gunners are coming off a 4-1 defeat of Everton in the F.A. Cup, a 1-1 draw in Munich against the reigning European champions, and a 1-0 shutout of archrivals Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Tomas Rosicky played hero last weekend and will need to step up here as well if his side hope to take home a result. Notice the lengthy injury list below.
Probable lineups Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Flamini; Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Podolski; Giroud.

Chelsea vs Galatasaray - Competition: UEFA Champions League
Match date: Tuesday, 18 March 2014 - Kick Off Time: 19:45 GMT

Chelsea FC are the current leaders of the England Premier League; but they suffered a narrow defeat in their last match on the road against Aston Villa. The Blues had to complete the match with nine man; because Willia and Ramires were sent off by refree Chris Foy. In the first leg, they took the lead with Torres; but then Chedjou levelled the game. At the Stamford Bridge, coach Jose Mourinho's side were almost perfect so far this season. They lost only one fixture which was against Basel. They also got two draws against West Ham and WBA. Ashley Cole and Marco van Ginkel will miss out. Mohamed Salah and Nemanja Matic are ineligible. Samuel Eto'o did not feature in the last league match; but he is expected to be fit to play along with David Luiz on the match day.
Galatasaray team were drawn to Karabuk on Friday evening. It makes that their title chances are in danger. Coach Roberto Mancini's side knows that they have to perform much better in the second leg in order to get the ticket for the next round; but their away performance was the weakest part of the team until now. In their twenty-one official trips, they could get four victories which is one of them in the Turkish cupagainst a lower division side. In Champions League's group stage, they failed to win on the road with one draw, two defeats. In their match squad, there is no important missing; but some players will be absent as usual. The big guns like Didier Drogba, Wesley Sneijder and Burak Yilmaz will be the biggest goal hopes of the Lions. Semih Kaya was substituted off at the half-time of the last match; but he is fit to play on Tuesday.

Possible line-ups:
Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Cech – Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta – Ramires, Mikel – Willian, Oscar, Hazard – Eto’o.
Galatasaray (4-1-3-2): Muslera – Eboue, Chedjou, Balta, Telles – Ceyhun – Selcuk, Melo, Sneijder – Drogba, B. Yilmaz.

Manchester United vs Liverpool
Football: 2013/2014 English Premier League, Round 30

Man United team enter matchweek 30 of the Premier League in 6th place, 9 points back from crosstown rivals Liverpool. It's been an up and down season for the Red Devils, best highlighted by their recent run of results: 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses in their last 6 in all competitions. But in Premier League action they've gone unbeaten in their last 4, and it's clear the signing of Juan Mata and the extended contract of Wayne Rooney have given the club a boost in an otherwise disappointing season. 5th place and the Europa League prize that comes with it is still within their grasp, but consistency in good form has eluded them all season. History does back the hosts as Manchester United have beaten Liverpool at Old Trafford in their last 6 matches. Furthermore, Fellaini put forth his best game in a United jersey last time out and has given Liverpool problems in the past (with Everton).
Probable lineups Manchester United: de Gea – Rafael, Smalling, Jones, Evra – Carrick, Fellaini – Mata, Rooney, Januzaj – van Persie.

Liverpool continue to mount their surprising title challenge and currently sit in 2nd place (7 points behind Chelsea with a game in hand). They've gone on a 9-game unbeaten streak in league play that has propelled them above Arsenal and Manchester City. The main catalyst for this form has been their blitzing attack, as Liverpool have scored 15 goals in their last 5 league games, including an impressive 3-0 away win at Southampton last time out. The Reds will be looking to correct a few wrongs at Old Trafford as they haven't won in their last 6 trips. But Sir Alex Ferguson no longer patrols the sidelines, and his presence has been sorely missed by Manchester United and football fans alike all season long. Couple that with the fact that Liverpool are in great form and can't seem to stop scoring, it may be doom and gloom yet again at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Probable lineups Liverpool: Mignolet – Flanagan, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson – Henderson, Gerrard – Sterling, Coutinho, Sturridge – Suarez.

Aston Villa FC vs Chelsea FC
Football: 2013/2014 English Premier League, Round 30
Date: Saturday, 15 March 2014 - 18:30 CET - 17:30 GMT

Aston Villa team enter matchweek 30 of league play in a comfortable 11th place position. They are 6 points above the relegation zone, and last weekend's 4-1 thrashing of Norwich solidified their temporary safety. It was a much-needed victory after the Villains had taken just a point from 4 games, and Christian Benteke looked his former self with a brace before the game had even hit the half-hour mark. It's vital timing for the home side, as lately these two clubs have witnessed a glutton of goals in their matchups (30 goals in last 6 meetings). Benteke netted in the last two of those contests, and the Villains will be heaping their hopes on the big Belgian. But they haven't been the best side at home this season, earning just 14 points from 14 games. N'Zogbia, Okore, and Kozak remain long-term absentees, while Herd is out and Bertrand can't play against his parent club.

Chelsea FC continued their march to the English Premier League title last weekend with a convincing 4-0 victory over hapless Tottenham. The match meant Mourinho's unbeaten streak at home was extended to an amazing 75 league games, as well as seeing the Blues to a 7-point lead on the rest of the pack. But Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool all have games in hand on the leaders, so Mourinho and Co. will be eager to keep the pressure on their competition with an important away win. Chelsea may have an eye towards their Champions League clash with GS this Tuesday, so team selection may vary a bit from last weekend. But the depth of the Blues is a reason why they're in the great position they are. Also, the defence ranks 1st in the league and has conceded just 5 goals in their last 13 Premier League games.

Barcelona vs Manchester City Champions League - March 12, 2014

0 التعليقات
Barcelona vs Manchester City
Competition: 2013/2014 UEFA Champions League, Round of 16, 2nd Leg

Barcelona enter Wednesday's Champions League 2nd leg with a commanding 2-0 lead after dispatching the Citizens comfortably on their own turf. Camp Nou is a fortress for the Catalonian club, always creating an intimidating atmosphere for opponents in games of this stature. However, Barcelona fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Real Valladolid, casting their La Liga title hopes in serious doubt. Andres Iniesta missed that encounter due to a family bereavement and isn't expected to make it back for this game. But arguably the best midfield in the world has more than suitable replacements for the pint-sized wizard and should control the majority of possession per usual. Expect Neymar to feature off the bench once again, especially if the game looks in doubt for the hosts. But it shouldn't come to that, as Barcelona have failed to win just twice this season in all competitions at Camp Nou.
Man City team enter this match in similar fashion to Barca, having played out a disappointing 2-1 loss to Wigan in the F.A. Cup quarterfinals. To be fair, the Citizens should've put away at least 4, but Sergio Aguero looked rusty around the net to say the least (but the Argentinian striker is perhaps the one player who can turn this Champions League tie around). The Citizens have gone unbeaten in their last 11 matches on the road, but a commanding win is necessary. They did manage a 3-2 victory in Munich in the final group game, so the capability is there with so much talent on the roster. But experience means so much in this competition, which Barcelona has in abundance compared to Man City. Look for Yaya Toure to have a more meaningful impact than in the first leg, but to no avail by the end of 90 minutes. Jovetic and Nastasic are out, while Demichellis is suspended after picking up a red card in the first leg.

Possible line-ups:
Barcelona (4-3-3): Valdes – Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba – Busquets, Xavi, Fabregas – Pedro, Sanchez, Neymar.
Manchester City (4-4-2):
Hart – Zabaleta, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov – Silva, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, Silva – Aguero, Negredo.

Match date: Wednesday, 12 March 2014

Atletico Madrid vs AC Milan Champions League 11-03-2014

0 التعليقات

Atletico Madrid vs AC Milan - Football: UEFA Champions League, 2nd leg

Atletico Madrid team won the first match at San Siro thanks to a late goal given by Diego Costa in the 83rd minute of the game. During the weekend Diego Simeone’s side played against Celta de Vigo away from home. The match ended in Atletico’s 0:2 victory. The scorer of both goals was ex-Barcelona forward, David Villa (scored in the 62nd and 64th minute of the match). Atletico took advantage of Barcelona’s defeat during the weekend and jumped over them in the table being now point clear of the Catalonians. The leaders, Real Madrid have the same amounts of points as Atletico but have one game in hand (against UD Levante Valencia on Sunday evening).
Probable lineups Atletico Madrid: Courtois – Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Filipe – Gabi, Suarez – Koke, Garcia, Turan – Diego Costa.

AC Milan form is now very patchy. The match in Madrid may be their last appearance in the European cups this year and who knows, maybe even in the next year as well. This is due to quite a big gap to the 5th position (Europa League) and even much bigger to the 3rd place (Champions League qualifiers) – 17 points plus one game more than the rivals. Following the 0:1 defeat at home from Atlético Madrid during the first leg of Champions League’s 8th finals Milan have got little chances of advancing to the next round. During the weekend they lost their league game against lower-ranked Udinese 1:0. In the last but one game week they were also defeated, that time at home by the leaders Juventus.
Probable lineups AC Milan: Abbiati – de Sciglio, Rami, Zapata, Emanuelson – de Jong, Muntari – Honda, Kaka, Taarabt – Balotelli.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Premier League 08-03-2014

0 التعليقات

On Saturday, 8th March at 16:30 GMT, Chelsea FC will host Tottenham at Stamford Bridge for Round 29 of the 2013/2014 English Premier League.
Chelsea FC sit comfortably at 4 points atop the Premier League, but knowing that Man City have 2 games in hand at 6 points below, they'll be wise to push on and keep the pressure on the teams chasing them. Jose Mourinho will look to extend his unbeaten streak at Stamford Bridge to an uncanny 75 Premier League games. Tottenham offer a tricky proposition though, so Mourinho may opt for the safer side of caution in the first half behind his top-ranked defence. Andre Schurrle announced himself in a big way last week, endearing himself to fans with his first Premier League hat-trick against local rivals Fulham. The German still may not crack the starting XI here though, but he is certainly getting closer to a bigger role in Mourinho's plans. In league play, Chelsea haven't lost since early December at Stoke City, winning 4 of their last 5 and 10 of their last 13. An upset here is possible, but it's hard to see with the Blues playing such dominant football, especially at home.
Tottenham team returned to winning ways in league play last weekend with an unconvincing 1-0 win over relegation-zoned Cardiff City. Roberto Soldado netted the lone goal in that one after a lengthy drought in front of goal. The Spaniard's finish came at a welcome time for the Hotspurs, as red-hot Emmanuel Adebayor wasn't going to be able to do all the scoring for the North London club. Tim Sherwood has done an excellent job since taking over the managerial position and is impressively staking his claim for an extended stay in power. His club holds a firm grasp on 5th place, while a Champions League place (top 4) isn't a farfetched proposition at this stage. A result here at Stamford Bridge would go a long way to achieving the coveted top 4 that has eluded the visitors for some time. Tottenham have played well on the road this campaign, taking 29 of their 53 points away from White Hart Lane. However, against the top 4 this season, the Hotspurs have wilted, losing to Man City 6-0 and 5-1, to Liverpool 5-0, and to Arsenal 1-0. It is important to note that they drew against Chelsea in the first match 1-1, but the league-leaders have improved immensely since then.

Possible line-ups:
Chelsea FC: Cech – Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta –Matic, Ramires – Willian, Oscar, Schurrle – Torres.
Tottenham: Lloris – Naughton, Vertonghen, Dawson, Fryers – Lennon, Sandro, Paulinho, Townsend – Soldado, Adebayor.

Spain 1-0 Italy Highlights 05-03-2014 International Friendly

0 التعليقات

Spain vs Italy - Competition: International Friendly
Match date: 5 March 2014
Venue: Estadio Vicente Calderon, Madrid

Goals: Spain – Pedro 63'

Spain continue their recent domination over Italy as La Furia Roja snatched a slender friendly victory over their rival this midweek at Vicente Calderon stadium. The home side tried to take control of things since kick off as they played their normal ball possession style of football trying to patiently break down their opponent's resistance. It was not an easy task though as Italy put on a solid display during the first 45 minutes forcing that half to end in a goalless draw.
Both teams, especially the host were looking really eager in snatching that winning goal in the second period and La Furia Roja's attempts were eventually rewarded as Pedro puts them ahead on 63 minutes. Despite further attempts from those two teams, no more goals were scored on that tie as that tie ended in a 1-0 result.

England vs Denmark International Friendly 05-03-2014

England vs Denmark - Competition: International Friendly
Match date: Wednesday, 5 March 2014

As usual, despite the supposed friendly nature of this contest, England supporters will be demanding a victory. Of course, with the 2014 World Cup trip just around the corner, many players will be playing for their chance to represent their country in South America. The English are a bit short at centre-back for this match with Phil Jagielka and Phil Jones both absent, likely giving Chris Smalling a chance to impress after a lackluster campaign with his club Man Utd. Other than that, the attack looks strong with Rooney and Sturridge leading the line, flanked by Southampton captain Lallana and in-form Arsenal winger Oxlade-Chamberlain. But expect halftime to end a few players' days, as Roy Hodgson will want to get a look at fast-improving Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling before he begins to trim down his WC squad. Pressure will be high as always on the Englishmen; however, it looks like Hodgson will be fielding a strong side from the outset of this one.
Denmark team emerged on the wrong side of World Cup qualifying, finishing 2nd place in their respective group behind Italy. That is typically good enough to earn a playoff but they were the odd team out after finishing with less points than all the other 2nd place teams. But they went out in style, trouncing Malta 6-0 after earning an impressive 2-2 draw with Italy. Nicklas Bendtner made his return to the national side after serving his lengthy suspension and is likely to feature here at Wembley Stadium from the outset. The big forward has been on his best behavior at Arsenal since then, crediting his transformation to fatherhood. However, Christian Erikson, a key cog in the Danish midfield who is enjoying a breakout season at English club Tottenham, will not feature here after picking up a thigh injury. Furthermore, manager Morten Olsen will be keen on giving some invaluable playing time to the younger crop of rising talent, as the visitors have little to play for. However, the Danes aren't known for lying down, so expect a mixture of youth and experience to make this game tough on the hosts.

AC Milan vs Juventus FC
Football: Italy, Serie A, Game week 26th
Date: dimanche, 02 mars 2014 – 8:45 pm CET - 20:45
Stadium: San Siro, Milan, Italie

AC Milan and their fans are for sure not on the bright side of their football life. Their form is now very patchy. The entrance to the European club championships for the next season is still within their reach but it is not an easy task for them. To the 5th position in the table they are losing now 5 points (Europa League) and to the 3rd place (Champions League qualifiers) 16 points. Following the 0:1 defeat at home from Atlético Madrid during the first leg of Champions League’s 8th finals there are small chances that Milan will win the Champions League. In the last five games Milan managed to win only twice (against Sampdoria and Bologna in Serie A) and lost also twice - as already-mentioned against Atlético Madrid and against Napoli in Serie A. When it comes to their home form, the performance is also not solid – loss, win, draw, loss and win. Of course they are not fighting a lost battle against Juventus FC.
Juventus team are atop the Serie A table. This season they are undoubtedly the best and the most solid team in the Italian league. What’s more Conte’s players are boosted by their prestige win in the local derby match against Torino last week and Thursday’s away win against Trabzonspor in the Europa League. In the last five games there was only one side which managed to deprive Juventus the full three points – the game against Hellas Verona ended in 2:2 draw. The current leaders lost only one game in the league this season, back in October against Fiorentina. Since then they are undefeated in the league.

AS Roma vs Inter Milan Italian Serie A March 1, 2014

AS Roma vs Inter Milan - Competition: Italian Serie A

Having recorded back to back triumphs over Sampdoria and Bologna, Roma are rightly considered 1.70 (7/10) favourites to defeat the Nerazzurri.
The Giallorossi have won 11 of their last 13 home matches in Italian Serie A, five of their last six matches and are still unbeaten at home conceiding only tow goals so far.
Pjanic, Torosidis and Gervinho should be in contention, but Totti is doubtful and Balzaretti, Maicon, Dodò and Florenzi are all out through injury. The very young Romagnoli should play at left back position while Destro will be the central forward with Ljaijc and Gervinho at his sides.
Over their past six, Inter Milan have squeaked out a pair of one-goal victories over Sassuolo and Fiorentina, dropped two points to both Cagliari and Catania, while coming up short versus Genoa and Juventus. They have lost four of their previous five on the road in the league, although before that run, they had not tasted defeat on their travels all season.
Hernanes looks set to return having resumed training with the group, but Hugo Campagnaro is doubtful. Kovacic and Ricky Alvarez should both start on the bench while Icardi can be in the starting lineup at the expense of Milito.
AS Roma have won 5 of their last 6 matches against Inter Milan scored at least 2 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches against the Nerazzurri in all competitions.

Possible line-ups:
Roma (4-3-3): De Sanctis; Torosidis, Benatia, Castan, Romagnoli; Pjanic, De Rossi, Strootman; Gervinho, Destro, Ljajic.
Inter (3-5-2):
Handanovic; Rolando, Samuel, Juan Jesus; Jonathan, Guarin, Kuzmanovic, Alvarez, Nagatomo; Palacio, Icardi.
